Emergency Tree Service in Richmond, KY
Emergency tree service in Richmond, KY covers the calls that cannot wait until Monday: a tree on the roof, a trunk blocking the driveway, a split leader hanging over the kids’ room. Richmond Tree Pros takes emergency calls around the clock for Madison County and the surrounding towns.
When you should call right away
Some tree damage can wait for a scheduled crew. Some cannot. Call immediately if a tree is resting on a structure, if a large limb is hung up in the canopy above where people walk or park, or if the root plate has lifted and the trunk is still standing.
- A tree or limb has landed on a house, garage, shed, or vehicle
- A trunk is blocking a driveway, farm gate, or road
- The root plate has heaved and the tree is leaning further than it was
- A large limb is hung up overhead and could drop without warning
- A split has opened in a main union and the halves are separating
If power lines are involved, call the utility first
Never approach a tree that is touching or near a power line, and never assume a downed line is dead. Call 911 and your electric utility before you call us. Once the utility has de-energized and cleared the line, we can take the tree.
This is the one part of emergency tree work that is not ours to start. Line clearance is the utility’s job, and the wait is worth it.

What happens when we arrive
The first pass is assessment: where the load is sitting, what is holding it, and what moves if we cut in the wrong order. Storm-damaged trees are under tension in ways a healthy tree is not, and that tension is what hurts people.
From there we stabilize, section the tree down in a controlled order, and get the immediate hazard off the structure. Full cleanup and hauling can follow the same day or on a scheduled return, whichever gets you safe faster.
Documenting damage for your insurance
Before anything gets cut, we photograph the tree as it fell and where it landed. Adjusters want to see the original position, the point of failure, and the damage path. Cutting first and photographing later can cost you on the claim.
Central Kentucky’s damaging weather runs to spring straight-line winds, summer thunderstorm downbursts, and winter ice. The National Weather Service Louisville office issues the warnings and storm reports that cover Madison County.
A typical emergency call in Madison County runs $600–$2,500, labeled as typical — see our emergency tree removal cost breakdown for what drives the range.
Common questions
Do you really answer at night?
Yes. Emergency calls are answered around the clock. Whether a crew rolls immediately depends on conditions — working a damaged tree in the dark during an active storm can be more dangerous than waiting for first light, and we will tell you honestly which one your situation calls for.
What if the tree is touching a power line?
Stay well back, call 911 and your electric utility, and keep everyone away from the area including the ground around the line. We cannot legally or safely work a tree in contact with an energized line. Once the utility clears it, we can start.
Will homeowners insurance pay for the removal?
It depends on your policy and on what the tree hit. Many policies cover removal when a tree damages a covered structure and treat a tree that simply fell in the yard differently. Photograph everything before cutting and call your agent early.
How fast can you get to Berea or Waco?
Madison County towns are a short run for us. After a widespread storm the honest answer is that we triage — structures and blocked access first, yard cleanup after — and we will give you a real window rather than a hopeful one.
